About Troop 977

The first organizational meetings for the formation of Troop 977 began in November
1991. Doug Banner, District Executive for the Apache District (which later became
the Twin Arrows District) served as Scoutmaster during the start-up of the Troop.
Rev. Bob Green, Pastor, and Bobby Taylor, Youth Minister, were instrumental in
providing support from our chartering organization - Arrow Heights Baptist Church.
Charter members of the new Troop (the first Boy Scout Troop to be sponsored by a
Baptist Church in Broken Arrow) were:
John Beauchamp, Josh Collins, Jason Duffy, Chris Keech, Josh Keech, and Keith
Mancinelli.
Adults involved in the organization and activation were:
Doug Alexander, Bob Baxter, Bill Coody and Ronnie LeCompte.
Being consistently active in Twin Arrows District and Indian Nations Council events
and competitions became a part of Troop 977. The Troop takes pride in camping
monthly, working on skills while camping, and promoting advancement. As a result,
Troop 977 has received awards from active participation in Scout-O-Rama and
regularly receives the National Camping Award.
The participation of parents in assisting their sons and others in advancement has
remained above average over the years. Through their instruction and
encouragement, many Scouts have advanced and learned.
The Scouts of Troop 977 appreciate the support of parents, former Scouts, the
community and Arrow Heights Baptist Church.
