IX. MEMBERSHIP
A. GUIDELINES FOR RECRUITING SCOUTS AND SCOUTERS (REGISTERED
ADULTS)
This policy applies only to the recruitment of Scouts and Scouters that are members of
other troops. It does not apply to Webelos, Scouts or Scouters that have quit another
troop, non-scouts and non-scouters.
Most Scouts and Scouters that quit a troop go through the following phases:
Happy with Troop becomes unhappy becomes unhappy enough
with troop to quit or transfer to another troop
If a Scout or Scouter (a registered adult) indicate they are both unhappy with their troop,
you should encourage them to talk to their Scoutmaster to try and resolve the
problem(s).
If the Scout or Scouter indicate they are both unhappy with their troop AND are
considering dropping out of Scouting or transferring to another troop you may invite
them to visit our Troop meeting and camp out. If you invite a scout to our meeting under
this circumstance, notify Troop 977 Scoutmaster and he will inform the other
Scoutmaster.
We want our Troop to grow in a manner that will foster good relationships with other
Troops. The objective of this policy is to avoid creating hard feelings between our Troop
and others. We believe that maintaining good relations with all other Troops will help
our Troop grow and expand the whole Scouting program.
